Requirements of Carolina
Beach Pontoon Rental

You are the captain! We require all boaters to have boating experience (Boater Education Card preferred) and knowledge of the operation/handling a boat. Before you leave the dock all boaters and guests are given a 20-minute safety orientation and waterway briefing. On our boats, you can travel from Carolina Beach via the ICW anywhere including Wrightsville Beach, Masonboro Island, and Figure 8 Island.

Experience

Navigating and docking of the pontoon boat are critical to the safety of the passengers and the boat. We require that all renters have some general experience operating a powerboat. We are happy to work with you to re-acclimate yourself to the water and the general waterway rules. Renters are responsible for the boat, fuel, and any damage to the equipment provided.

What to bring along:

  • Bathing Suit
  • Sun Screen
  • Snacks and Drinks
  • Towels
  • Phone/Camera/Music
  • Your dog!

Boat Operators

You are the captain, but we can assist you in finding a driver if you choose to hire one. Drivers are paid separately as they DO NOT work for, or represent, Carolina Beach Pontoon Rental. Ask during your booking about this option.

North Carolina law requires anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1988 to hold a boating safety education ID Card that is issued by the Department of Wildlife. To operate a vessel powered by a 10 horsepower or greater motor on public waterways, unless they are otherwise in compliance, must take the course. The NC General Assembly passed GS 75A-16.2 in June 2009 to improve boating safety by requiring boating safety education prior to operating a vessel with a motor of 10 horsepower or greater.
